2023 Annual Meeting Optional Workshops

8:00am - 5:00pm FATE All-Day Workshop  
Includes registration for online Focused Assessment Transthoracic Echocardiography (FATE) E-learning modules (Basic Cardiac Ultrasound and Pulmonary Ultrasound) pre-course o be completed prior to attending this workshop.

This hands-on workshop will include a review of standard TTE windows on patient models and a review of the the pre-course materials. Attendees will review 4-5 clinical OB-Anesthesia related cases (1-Pulmonary Embolism, 2-Preeclampsia, 3-Peripartum CMP, 4-Amniotic fluid embolism, 5-Hypovolemic shock/PPH) and rotate through onsite stations.

Workshop 1 - 8:00am - 12:00pm - Maternal Medicine for OB Anesthesia - $300
Good L&D care means understanding a patient's medical history, beginning with the fundamentals. This interdisciplinary workshop, led by leaders in Maternal Fetal Medicine and OB Anesthesia, covers high-risk OB topics with an emphasis on clinical management and cross-discipline collaboration. We will provide the foundation and cross-training that every OB Anesthesiologist needs when it comes to managing complex maternal medical issues on labor & delivery. By the end, you will understand how to integrate these fundamental principles into your L&D practice.

Workshop 3 - 1:00pm - 5:00pm Peri-operative Point-of-Care Ultrasound (POCUS)- $400
Includes registration for online FAST (Focused Assessment with Sonography for Trauma), Airway-, adn Gastric-, precourse to be completed prior to attending this workshop. POCUS workshop covering Gastric-, Neuraxial-, Airway-, and FAST(abdominal) ultrasound. Focus of the workshop will be hands-on training on patient models with brief, 10-15 minutes lectures on each topic.

Workshop 4 - 1:00pm - 5:00pm - Fire up your perinatal care team and create transformational change - $300
This workshop will focus on four team-building exercises to optimize multidisciplinary care and communication strategies, and will include: a) Practical applications for how to institute and lead change, plus application of the WOOP-based strategy (wish, outcome, obstacle, plan) to create a culture that includes huddles and routine multidisciplinary rounds; b) Interactive gamification to improve communication techniques and language within teams; c) Advocacy/inquiry to practice debriefing with feedback; d) Steps to develop in-situ simulation and overcome barriers for success.

Workshop 5 - 1:00pm - 5:00pm - Enhancing Maternal Care Through Promoting Teams' Wellness and Reslience in a High Stress Environment - $300
Resilience is the ability to bounce back from adversity. It is a necessary skill for coping with life’s inevitable obstacles and one of the key ingredients to success. Learning to bounce back and to bounce forward. Communication and expression are a key component of resilience, and are essential assets to develop within a care team We, as educators and leaders, should be able to fill the learning objectives descrobed below but also provide patients with information that will help them understand better how we care for them and will help personalize maternal care.
